Blockchain: Secure, Decentralized Tech

You have probably heard a lot about blockchain recently. Its role in making cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and associated blockchain apps popular has attracted major media attention. However, that is by no means the only application for blockchain distributed computing.

Experts across a wide range of industries are quickly learning how this technology and the overall benefits from distributed network web services can offer significant advantages to businesses and their customers. Enhanced security is one of those advantages.

The idea of distributed computing is at the core of blockchain technology. Prior to this innovation,  organizations typically had to store data, documents, files, and the like in a single, centralized database.

With blockchain computing, a network of computers processes updates. Thus, the potential for disagreements or deceit is significantly lower.

That said, forms of distributed cloud computing may potentially emerge in the near future. This would involve vendors renting out the computing resources clients need. While information could be distributed across a network (unlike traditional, centralized cloud servers), a single vendor would still be responsible if any disputes or errors were to occur.

How Decentralized, Distributed Processing Tech Enhances Security

Blockchain web services and decentralized network web services do not merely boost transparency; they also improve overall data security. When data is stored in a centralized location, a hacker only has to attack that location to corrupt, delete, or otherwise interfere with it.

Again, blockchain computing is different. Blockchain web services spread information across a network. Thus, in order to cause any harm, a hacker would have to access all computers within the network. This is virtually impossible.

This degree of enhanced security from distributed computing could be valuable in many industries, from financial services to healthcare.
